Sleep. Eat. Ride. Math., kind of the way thing s have been going as of late. math course ends in a few weeks so taking care of getting that finihsed. just finished the second or so week of intensity training. its been sweet to finaly get some velocity going on the dirt. Had dome sweet 4+ rides on sun. and wed. did a tour of the parks, with long road streches between all the diferent mtbing areas in the.. area. feeling pretty good for the start of the year. powers way up from last march, and the AT efforts on the same courses at the same HR are showing some good improvments. ive been doing alot of my AT work at a few beats lower HR than this time last year. i think i was doing all my AT and TT efforts at a few beats above threshhold last year, and in return, come race day, i was going out for the first 2 laps at the HR. ( 185 ), so these past few AT efforts ive been keeping it around 180 which is the actual tested threshold. all the power tests on the trainer from over the past few years have shown the AT to be 178-180, and the VO2max test from last april showed threshold at 181. yet for somereason, come race day. 183-186 feels comfertable. its on the off days that it would come back to bite me, id hit out at 183 for the first hour, and find my self ( very literaly ) crawling out of the last half of the race. even during this past cross season, i played around with slower starts, and keeping below 180 for the first half, and it seemed to work pretty well. well see how evrything feels in 2 weeks when i have my first MTB race simulation of 60 min. my first race of the season will be this coming sat. at the Charge Pond training series down in Plymoth. a rolling crit course, we do about 30 miles. im going to play it by feel. but the plan is to easth A. feel not to strong and sit in and wait for the bunch sprint. B. feel ok, but not steller, and use it as a practice for Short Track, and take a 25 minute flyer after the first couple laps. just give er' evrything for 20 min, and come back ( unless a group forms, then IF the legs are there.. go for it. and C. IF feeling pretty good, ( or atleast, feeling better than evryone else ; ), play it like a real race, and eather go with a threatning break and stay out front, or atack directly after the very last pream sprint.... well see how it goes, im pretty pumped to pin up again for the frist time since cross nats. off to bed. 2 nights befor e race. you know the deale-o.
respect,
fat marc.
...i mean. colt.
