Sometimes I drink heavily

As is customary, this day ended in similar fashion to the way it started. Despite the filling, sometimes it feels like regardless of the flavor, a day is still a day is still a day. Cyclists know this better than most; and by cyclist, I mean probably just me and that middle of the pack semi-pro I met out in UT with the sub 20 pound Turner; but I digress. Today started and ended like all those before it. A morning dedicated to accomplishing the objectives on the bike, and an evening recovering from the previously mentioned. The middle however, was not by any standards, the norm. It was like when Valentines day comes around and Dunkin’ Donuts makes those special pink frosted ones with the little sugar hearts on top. But in the place of pink frosting and fried dough, was soup kitchens and shopping malls. Now I’m back full circle, plopped on my backside with my feet up high and the music turned higher. This normal people day to day stuff is okay and all, but I’m running arms wide open with that so-happy-to-see-you-after-so-long tear in my eye towards the always comforting embrace of a structured training plan and pre race nervousness. In layman’s terms, mid-season break is gone with the wind and suffering is back on the training plans. It’s about damn time.
