Dirty Miles

Finally put together a nice long dirt ride today without having to do any doubling back and with minimal pavement. It took some creativity and brief spurts of law breaking to connect all the trails, but it all worked out. Some of those barbed wire fence crossings got alitle sketchy though. At one point, there was no good place to sneak threw so I had to take off my shoes, ( because I was weaing my roadie ones ) run barefoot, and hurtle over this wire fence. It was an itresting problem to have been facing on a mountain bike ride. Luckily, most of the gates all had openings to crawl through.towards the end of the ride, I was riding through some farm road after having jumped another fence, and I came across this little lady. She came running over towards the road and then looked me down for a while. She challenged me to gun fight, but I forgot to put on my holster before I left so we went our separate ways.I solved my transportation problem out here in Park City while out there today. It's a fixer upper for sure, but a little love aught to get her back on the road. when I left this afternoon, the thermometer had just struck 100. 3.5 hours and three stops at sketchy rest rooms later, I had set a new record for one ride having gone through 7 bottles.the best part of the ride was the climb that left right off the bike at heading up to down town PC. Its a nice long switchbacking climb at a really shallow gradient. You can really get a good rhythm going up it, hitting the burms out of the saddle on the uphill switchbacks is always a good time. There was this mile long dirt road descent at the bottom that sent you flying into this 100 meter climb at probly 25%. It was a little body jarring coming It this wall doing 30+ in your 44/12 and having to try and sprint out of the saddle while shifting to your 32/big in the back. No matter how smooth you made the transition it still took what seemed like every ounce of power to make it over that last 5 meters. I spent almost 20 minutes just hitting the thing over and over.Just like yesterday, I finished of a long day by tearing it up at the skills park. I finally mastered the big rock drop just in time to remember I didn't have any replacement spokes in Park City, and should probly stick to the laddersEasy day up!
