Life At These Speeds
I may have had to build the same barriers two days in a row, but all the same, they got finished. A brand new set of 16 and 20 inchers to help refine the skills for the season without having to leave the comforts of home.
as far as the bunny hopping goes, I suggest starting with something other than barriers to allow for some wheel tap. Once your clearing that consistently, time to move on to the planks.
maybe It's just been a while since last cross season, but I don't remember the barriers being so big. ( but then, I say that every year come this time )with the cross bike taking a presumed day and a half before FINLEY making it out for a ride, and my new MTB shoes still in the mail, I stuck to B-hop practice. I've got the 16 set dialed on my mountain bike and the 20's are still taking a little back wheel tap each time. Even with 4 inch narrower bars on the cross' bike, im pretty sure the 6 pound weight reduction will make the difference in making those big ones clean.
started off with a little home video to help analyze the spacing and technique from a unique outsiders perspective. It really helped in polishing up the whole thing. I also did a little test, and on average, hopping was saving 6 seconds over the course of 50 feet with the barriers in the center. That'll add up lap after lap... Slide to the left.
slide to the right
one hop this time
left foot one stomp
two hops this time
take it back now ya'll
cha cha real slow
