I've got more PR's than I know what to do with lately! Made another step up at the access climb on today's repeats. Four reps added from last week and seven seconds off the average! To non distance athletes that means next to nothing, but for anyone who's been in the same position you know just how big those couple of seconds are. Imagine if you went back to your last mtb race and took seven seconds off every five minutes of a two and a half hour race... It was almost ten years after the Fins ran the mile in 4:01 before Roger broke four. One second can be a life time. The fun factor was lacking in comparison to last week with the temp twenty five degrees cooler and no company to chat with on the recover loops. A couple roadies joined in for a few but I think they were intimidated by my bar ends on risers combination, and left. As Tim pointed out, riser bars with bar ends only makes me as gay as Roland Green. And he's a two time world champ, so... On hard days like this I always leave the iPod home to maximize the focus factor. As a result, I always end up with a song or two stuck in my head for the ride. I'm always amazed at how obscure a song I get stuck with in hard rides or a race. Today was ridiculous. 'I see you windin' n' grindin' up on that pole, I know you see me lookin' at you and you already know...' It didn't matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it out. It didn't help when I would break into laughter half way through an interval every time my internal jukebox would get to ' cuz I'm lovin' the way you shake your ass , bouncin', got me tippin' my glass ' God I've never been more ashamed of myself. I guess as long as the legs are happy I can deal with it. NOVA in nine days. It's crunch time!
