Diets
I've been on a bit of a nobbie diet the past couple days. laying off the dirt can be rough, but to sustain aerobic capacity and keep the improvement on the upswing, its a necessary withdrawral to go through. The ocational dirt road keeps me sane.
Did a long road ride down to something state park and around some resevwar. The weather was hot hot heat and the water was scarce. i finely found the 'gas & grub' where the road passed under I80 and reloaded on brownish gold tap water. It was almost as refreshing as the cow-pie infested river i stopped to take a quick soak in. The only nice part about the day was the wind was blowing uphill. Making the 24 mile climb home more bearable.
I thought stampeding cows on the mountain bike was as good as it got, but the road brought on the challenge of the Buffalo. Much like the cow, this little guy ran home and quivered with fear. My bikes and I are getting quite the reputation out there in the animal kingdom. top of the food chain baby.
it was good riding around the resevwar. it felt odd to be on flat roads for once, and at sub 5,000 feet, the O2 levels made me feel superhuman.
Now with a good rest day in the books, its one last long weekend in the saddle with a few long race simulations before beginning a taper coming into the last two nationals. All this 'last' stuff is a bit saddening. Last NORBA's, last days in Park City, etc. But with These lasts come the best part of my entire year. The week every other week builds towards.. That's right, its almost that time of year when this web log goes from the bike racing nerd documentary to all things Camp Gorham. I know, you can't wait.
